Na studies Geneeskunde aan de Universiteit Gent, studeerde Dr. med. Sarah Terras in september 2015 af als dermatoloog aan de Ruhr Universiteit van Bochum (Duitsland). Hier genoot zij een brede en degelijke opleiding onder de gerenommeerde Professor Altmeyer en Professor Stockfleth. Bijkomend haalde zij in november 2015 een Doktortitel (Dr. med.) door wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar de expressie van cyclooxygenase 2 en apoptose in psoriatische huidmodellen na zoutbaden en UVB bestraling (Gambichler T., Terras S., Skrygan M., JEADV 2013). Op 18 mei 2016 startte dokter Terras haar privé-praktijk te Nieuwpoort. Zij combineert dit met een deeltijdse tewerkstelling als dermatoloog in het AZ Damiaan in Oostende.
Van 2015 tot 2018 werkte zij bijkomend als consulent op de afdeling Huidziekten in het Universitair Ziekenhuis te Gent. Sinds 1 mei 2022 is dokter Terras diensthoofd van de dienst dermatologie van AZ Damiaan (& AZ Oostende sinds 1/11/2023).
Dr. med. Sarah Terras beoefent de dermatologie in al haar aspecten en heeft een breed interessegebied. Ze deed in het verleden reeds onderzoek psoriasis, lichen sclerosus en UVA1-therapie en hield reeds voordrachten op verschillende internationale congressen (zie “Publicaties & Voordrachten). Regelmatig neemt ze deel aan nationale en internationale congressen om zo op de hoogte te blijven van de recente ontwikkelingen in de dermatologie. Zij is geaccrediteerd en lid van de Belgische Beroepsvereniging voor Dermatologie en Venereologie. Daarbovenop is zij ook lid van de European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV).
